An excellent all round family hatchback. It's a Hyundai i30 under the skin but offers a 7 year warranty to the Hyundai's 5. Good to drive and comfy to be in the C'eed really marks the point where Kia took off in the UK.
A well designed and comfortable cabin, good dynamics and proven reliability, the C'eed is a sensible choice in this market segment. The early editions still had some rough edges - cheap trim, poor quality radios, and other minor gripes. But it's overall capability and warranty have kept prices hard.
As with most cars in this segment there is a premium to pay for diesel power. We would opt for the 1.6 petrol as it is £1,500 cheaper than the comparative diesel, the servicing is cheaper and the insurance group is the same.
All C'eed models are well equipped so we would opt for the base S spec. The 1.6 petrol is the best choice but if you must go diesel then opt for the 1.6 - the engine is powerful enough and the cars are about £900 cheaper than the 2.0.
The 1.6 petrol model in S spec at three years old with 20,000 miles on the clock should cost £8000.00. Pay £10500 for a comparative diesel.
Depreciation stays steady in the early years because the cars stay within Kia's tightly controlled dealer network.
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Kia Cee'd you would aim to buy a 5 year old and you can keep it for some time before needing to worry about a big drop in value.
Diesel Kia Cee'd cars lose most over the first year (from new to 1 year old), so that is the best ‘nearly new’ buy in terms of car for money.
Diesel Kia Cee'd cars lose least between years 1 and 3, so this is the best buy if you want to keep the car for a while.
Petrol Kia Cee'd cars lose least between years 2 and 4, so that is the best buy on older cars.
