AUDI’S new A1 hatchback is getting a double boost in the shape of a 1.4-litre engine which is both turbo and supercharged.
The 185PS A1 TFSI has a top speed in excess of 141mph and can sprint from 0 to 60mph in less than 6.9 seconds.
Despite the nifty performance the double boost system gives the latest A1 good fuel economy averaging 47.9mpg with emissions of 139g/km .
The car is available only in Audi’s S line trim and has a seven speed twin clutch semi-automatic gearbox as standard.
Audi has added an electronic limited slip differential to the car’s stability set up to improve handling.
The dual boost system first uses the supercharger up to around 2,400 revs with the turbo cutting in at higher revs to add further power.
Priced from £20,705, the A1 1.4 TFSI has 17-inch alloy wheels and part leather-upholstered sports seats as well as air conditioning, iPod connections and a 6.5-inch display screen for the driver information system.
