What to look for:

Test drive the vehicle and check for a smell of oil from the engine seeping into the cabin when the car is hot. Also open the bonnet when the car is running and check for the same smell coming from the back of the engine.

What it means:

This fault can be caused by a split in the breather pipe at the back of the engine which will need to be replaced.

What to do

If the car is under warranty (2 years manufactures, I years dealer) Fiat may replace this part without charge. Otherwise, if you find this fault try to negotiate a reduction of £100.00 off of the price of the vehicle.
